Perception was created as my senior Industrial Design Capstone project. Mental illness and overall health is a huge issue right now. I have experienced these problems and know of many others who have too. I wanted to create this project in order to help destigmatize the subject of mental illness.
By using interesting graphics through screen printing and embroidered patches, I wanted users to be able to spark a conversation about the graphics and what they represent. Mental illness seems to be such a secretive subject that nobody wants to talk about, but I really wanted to break the silence in hope that it would help people to open up and not be afraid to talk about mental illness. My brand should make this process easier.
